An Uphill Battle for Textile Designers

Unfortunately it's become too easy for larger companies to knock of a designers creation. For example Dolce and Gabbana's Floral Print Satchel pictured above was a blatant copy of Marimekko's Unikko Pattern. When Marimekko brought attention to the case, Dolce and Gabbana proceeded to counter sue the Marimekko declaring their trademark invalid. This was of course over turned in court. But it puts in perspective what uphill battle modern Textile Designers face to keep their creative rights. For more on this read here.
