Trip to ABC

We recently were in New York and of course made a trip to the fabulous everything store of ABC Carpet and Home. While there, we fell in love with these beautiful bird plates. Must have been thinking ahead to Thanksgiving!

What's Trending: Put a Bird on It!!

Inspired by the hilarity that is Portlandia and their clip called "Put a Bird on It!!", we felt it necessary to search for some images for a bird themed post. In our search, we found an entire bird-dedicated blog that is actually a tribute to the Portlandia sketch. Love it!! All-that-is-bird was right at our fingertips so here are some of our favorites from the site. Oh, and do you know what is also pretty neat about posting about birds? Check out last week's "What's Trending" post and see if you can put it together...Oh yeah!

Birds of a Feather

I've been brainstorming concepts for an early fall line for children fabric. Something new and refreshing that touched upon those classic fall colors and imagery. In my research I fell in love with the concept of feathers as a visual representation of fall leaves. Here are a few snap shots of my initial conceptual drawings and musings. I also ended up sketching a little model for the garment I'd place the fabric on :)

We love coffee table books! One of our favorites is Bird by Andrew Zuckerman. This hefty book displays photographs of birds in vibrant color and unbelievable texture. In case this picture book makes you bird-brained, here are some lovely bird-inspired items that will "tickle" your fancy.
