Indie GoGo

Last week we posted about the fab Free Time Industries. This got us thinking...what a great idea to have a place for independent designers not only have more press by featuring themselves Indie GoGo, but also be able to receive donations through them. So, we decided to feature them as our "charity of the month", although we like to think of it as paying it forward for amazing designs to come. Ingenious ideas and ever-flowing creativity is not the problem for the designers, film producers, musicians that you find on Indie GoGo, it's the funds that keeps them from being able to share everything they have. What a great resource they have found in this company!

For a Good Cause: One Tribe

For the month of June, we wanted to shout out the amazing company, One Tribe. When you buy one of their signature screen tees, 50% of the profits go to the cause that the shirt was designed for. It even breaks down for you how much your purchase will do for the charity. It is so easy to make a difference through this site. 1 shirt can provide one year of education for a child in a developing country. Oh, and you get a rad shirt.

Tote to Support!

Yesterday we posted about Marni's new Spring line and mentioned the Marni Charity Project. We think it is so important to encourage the vast imaginations of children that we thought we should follow up and share some of the products that were done for this cause. These canvas tote bags (perfect for your green shopping experience) showcase the artwork of under privileged children. Proceeds from the purchases of these totes go towards educational and developmental programs in schools that encourage creativity. Check out this article that was written when Marni's Charity Project was first started.

For a Good Cause: The Taproot Foundation

So yes, it is a couple weeks into February, but better late than never, no? Our featured charity of the month is definitely worth the wait. The Taproot Foundation is making it happen by offering much needed resources to organizations tackling social change. Their mission is to "lead, mobilize and engage professionals in pro bono service that drives social change." They do this by providing companies that focus on improving society with the marketing, design, technology, management or strategic planning resources they need. For this, they are our featured charity for the fabulous month of February. You can read more about their cause on their site here.

New Year, New Month, New Charity

Images found on buildanest.com

We are starting the new year off right with our January's charity choice. We are just in awe of Build a Nest. It is a nonprofit organization providing female artisans with interest free loans. Not only do they make it possible for these incredible women from all over the world to start their own creative businesses, but their website also sells their wonderful products for all of us to own. If you are moved by this incredible organization, go to their site and pick out a hand-crafted item from the loan recipients, a product made by US designer for "artists helping artists", or if you're in a rush, simply click the donate button and make a difference.
