Our Favorites from Playtime NY

Playtime NY, a tradeshow for everything "kid" related, went off without a hitch last week. While we weren't able to go, thanks to their site, we were still able to scout out the brands that were there. Here are a few of our favorites. Sweet and serene frocks in soft colors from Caramel Baby&Child, Playful prints and texture mix-ups from Kico Kids, and artful and comical embroideries from Coral & Tusk.

Animal Parade Card by Rifle Paper Co

Its the second week of the month and we are once more focusing on Children print and textile inspiration! Today we decided to tackle one of the most infamous kids themes: The Circus. Its a perennially great story, its bright and cheery colors would make any line of clothing or fabric stand out at a store. Unfortunately its also very easy for this theme to look dated if not handled properly. Above is a collection of great art, garments and prints that beautifully represent our favorite circus memories while keeping it fresh and modern. I also love the trend in color story. Greys and muted colors allow for reds and blacks to pop. Also note the lovely mustard yellow balancing out the whimsical nature of the theme. Circus Circus done right!

From a pool of 75 terrific semi-finalist designs selected by judges, the peeps have spoken and we're now down to the top ten in the  competition to choose the next great designer for Michael Miller Fabrics. All of the top ten will be asked to do some serious work over the next two and a half weeks. Each designer has to create five additional designs for a collection built around the winning design. Only one designer will end up the winner, but all ten will receive $100 in Spoondollars as well as 10 yards of the Michael Miller fabric of her choice.

Designing for Le-Top

As well as designing our own lines of fabrics we've also collaborated with many great companies to create original textiles for their lines. In the spirit of our Children Fashion spotlight I thought I'd share some our past work with one of my favorite kids wear companies out there: Le-Top. Their playwear line is headed by the Pat Landskron, one of the biggest talents in industry today. It's always a pleasure to work with her vision which embodies a child's spirit of fun and cheerfulness.
Above are a few of the pieces we created for their spring/summer collections and below a few more we created for their Fall/Winter collection last year. You can find these on sale online at their site here, or at any upscale kids wear boutique across the country.
